Living as the Big S Self: Becoming Who You Were Born to Be

By Coach Michael Taylor

There comes a moment on the spiritual journey when it’s no longer enough to read the books, say the affirmations, or dabble in self-improvement.

There comes a moment when the whisper of your Soul becomes impossible to ignore.
When the old masks start to feel too heavy to carry.
When your Spirit knocks on the door of your awareness and says,
“Enough hiding. It’s time to remember who you are.”

That moment is your invitation to live as your Big S Self.

What Is the Big S Self?

The Big S Self is your Soul.
It is your truest essence—the divine “I AM” that existed before you had a name, and will continue long after the roles, titles, and identities have faded.

The Big S Self is not something you need to earn.
It’s not something you achieve.
It’s not even something you “find.”
It is the part of you that has been here all along, waiting patiently beneath the noise, beneath the wounds, beneath the ego’s anxious need to perform and protect.

While your little self worries about being liked, seen, or accepted, your Big S Self already knows:
You are worthy.
You are whole.
You are divine.

Why So Many People Stay Trapped in the Little Self

Let’s be honest—living from the Big S Self is radical. In a world that profits from your insecurity and praises ego-driven success, living from your Soul requires courage.

Most people stay trapped in the little self—the ego identity built on fear, comparison, and survival—because it feels safer. It’s what we were taught. Perform well, fit in, don’t rock the boat. Build the brand. Protect the image. Stay in control.

But here’s the truth: the little self wasn’t designed to lead. It was designed to protect.

And when it runs the show, your gifts become burdens. Your purpose becomes pressure. Your life becomes a performance.

This is why so many gifted, visionary people self-destruct. Their Soul is trying to express through them, but the ego can’t carry that voltage. It collapses under the weight of trying to do something divine through something fearful.

Until you reclaim your Big S Self, you’ll always feel like something’s missing—even if everything on the outside looks “successful.”

What It Feels Like to Live As the Big S Self

When you begin living from your Big S Self, something shifts—not outside, but within.

You stop hustling for your worth.
You stop shrinking to be accepted.
You stop performing for validation.

And you start showing up fully. Authentically. Radiantly.

Living as the Big S Self doesn’t mean you float through life on a cloud. You’ll still face challenges. You’ll still feel emotions. You’ll still have moments of doubt.

But now, you know who you are within the challenge.
You know where to return when fear arises.
You know that your gifts come from a source greater than you—and flow through you when you get out of your own way.

You stop asking, “Am I enough?”
And start asking,
“What wants to move through me today?”

You don’t try to be powerful. You simply stop resisting the power that’s already within you.

You don’t strive for purpose. You become the purpose.

You don’t wait for a perfect moment to express your truth. You live your truth and let that become the perfect moment.

How to Practice Living From the Big S Self

  1. Start the day with remembrance.
Before the to-do list, the emails, or the scroll… take a breath and ask:
“Who do I choose to be today—my Big S Self or my little self?”
    Let your Soul answer.

  2. Pause before reacting.
    When you're triggered, pause.
Your little self reacts. Your Big S Self responds.
    Ask,
“What does love invite me to do right now?”

  3. Create from alignment, not approval.
Whether you’re writing, teaching, leading, or creating—ask,
“Am I doing this to be seen… or to see?”

  4. Bless your adversity.
The path of the Big S Self doesn’t avoid hardship—it alchemizes it.
    When life challenges you, ask,
“What is this trying to awaken within me?”

  5. Speak from your Soul.
Whether it’s on a stage, at the dinner table, or in your journal—practice speaking from your Big S Self.
You’ll know it by the way your voice softens, your heart opens, and your truth feels rooted in love.

This Is the New Way of Being

The world doesn’t need more performance.
It doesn’t need more posturing.
It doesn’t even need more “success.”

The world needs embodied lighthouses.
People who walk their truth.
People who glow from the inside out.
People who are unapologetically aligned with who they came here to be.

This is what it means to live as your Big S Self.

You are not here to be impressive.
You are here to be
true.

And in doing so, you become a portal for Divine Love to move through this world—one breath, one conversation, one miracle at a time.

So I ask you…

Are you willing to stop pretending to be who you think you should be, and finally become who you really are?

Because your Big S Self is already here.

Waiting.

Glowing.

Ready.

It’s time.

Live like it.
